Alejandro Montoya Marin’s Millennium Bugs is a love letter to the 1990s. He desired to perform something new: a 1999 film starring Latino actors about genuine friendship. He was inspired by working with Robert Rodriguez on Rebel Without a Crew. He had an eye-opening experience, despite the common belief that directing your second feature film is the most difficult.
This was the pinnacle of indie filmmaking. Time and countless hours were given by individuals to bring this to life. It made sense for him to bring in the actors and producers he considers to be friends because the movie is about friendship. Hopefully, the Y2K comedy was influenced by their cinematic enthusiasm.
