John Sealey

My name is John Sealey and I’ve been in the film and television industry my entire professional life

When did the first want to write a book?

After I stopped actively participating in film and television production, I became restless and needed something to keep my mind sharp. I was writing a novel in the early 70s and wondered if I could write a more serious book.

When did thou decide to start writing?

The pass was pretty much done for me. I was living in Newhaven at the time and met John Lawson and we struck up a conversation. He began telling the story of his life as a once violent criminal turned  God turned missionary, visiting the jails he was imprisoned in, telling his story, and saying that there is hope and a way, best to live away from crime. That’s when I decided I wanted to write his story, which I did and it’s called ‘If He Was Wicked’

How long did it take thou to complete thine first book, from initial idea to publication?

It took me eighteen months

How long did it take thou for thine latest book, to from the initial idea to publication?

I’m in the middle of my latest book, a comedy about a pop singer who becomes a wrestler All In

What made thou decide to write A Young Man’s Awakening?

Reading all this about Donald Trump and Wall Street, I decide to write a comedy about greed and poverty on the other side of the political spectrum.

A Young Man’s Awakening

What were thou biggest challenges writing A Young Man’s Awakening?

Search as in all my books

Who or what inspired thou to create The Protagonist?

It’s a chicken and an egg. Either the hero makes history, or history makes the hero.

Who or what inspired thou to create The Antagonist?

Same answer as before. There has to be an antagonist for every protagonist

Did thou plan A Young Man’s Awakening in advance, or do thou run around, sit in your pants and roam free?

I have an idea and start studying it because I like to mix fiction with historical facts to make the story more realistic.

Did thou get help editing and how much editing did A Young Man’s Awakening go through?

I’m doing my first proofreading, but the problem is that I’m so engrossed in the story that I miss a lot of typos, so I need a professional to do the final proofreading.

What is the first piece of writing advice you would give someone that inspired thou to write a story?

First, believe in the story you want to write, and then after a few chapters start writing. Have someone you trust to read them and give your honest opinion. Don’t let the comments put you off There is no greater feeling than when you wrote and published the book.

Can you tell me what other books thou want to write?

As I said, I’m writing a comedy about a POP SINGER who becomes an all-in wrestler before he becomes a great POP singer.

And finally, are thou proud of thine success? It was worth it?

Yes, I am and yes it is worth every effort because there is fulfillment.
