The Final Load
The Final Load, a brand-new full-length film, is currently being shot in a number of locations throughout Beaufort County. The film is being directed by Chris Helton of Atlanta and Savannah, and his company, Silver Line Films, Inc. The independent film features an impressively experienced cast led by award-winning Hollywood actors Jeff Fahey and Judd Nelson, who have appeared in more than 300 films and television episodes together. The film was produced by Hilton Head Island businessman Walter Czura with his movie production company, Fortress Films.
Maddie Henderson, a social media celebrity with more than 4.3 million TikTok followers, is one of the additional cast members. Meredith Inglesby, a well-known Broadway actor, and her husband, Steve Blanchard, an accomplished TV reality star from Bravo’s “Southern Charm,” Shep Rose, an accomplished British actress Katie Amess, and Drew Waters, an American actor and director with 37 film and television credits, round out the group.
Based On Historic Events
The actual marijuana and hashish smuggling escapades that took place in South Carolina from the late 1970s to the early 1980s are depicted in the film’s screenplay. These were the ones who initiated the massive criminal investigation known as “Operation Jackpot” which was led by the current governor of South Carolina, Henry McMaster, and became a well-known episode of President Ronald Reagan’s “War on Drugs.”
The main character, played by Fahey, is a former convicted smuggler who must consider committing a major crime again to smuggle 30,000 pounds of marijuana in order to cover payments that will save his plantation estate and shrimp boat from imminent foreclosure and pay for his wife’s $325,000 pancreatic cancer treatment, according to the original screenplay that was written by Czura.
The film’s antagonist is Judd Nelson, an ex-DEA agent with a vendetta against the protagonist. Maddie Henderson, who plays Fahey’s granddaughter, plays the main supporting role.
“It’s a heartfelt, gripping story in a contemporary setting,” said Chris Helton. “It shows how far a man will go (including the risk of returning to prison) to save his home and family while involving his granddaughter along with him.”
Helton And Czura
After serving time in prison, CZURA, a former attorney, established a highly successful outdoor advertising business in the Southeast. On the side, he has also worked hard at writing screenplays. Czura established Fortress Films a year ago and released Sherman’s March to the Sea, a historical drama that debuted at the Poison Peach Film Festival in Augusta, GA, in January.
HELTON is a former Marine who started his career in film as an actor and is currently directing his fourth film. Additionally, he has produced five more. He is currently finishing up one full-length movie. Before the pandemic, his film “Dead Water” was shown in theaters across the country in 2019.
